To roam, says the dictionary, is to rove, to stroll, to wander.
This exhibition, which roams through Brazil and Portugal, having the Atlantic as a bridge, display the things we collected in ten years of wandering through these countries.
Our suitcases full of poems, toys and nature things are the treasures we discover with every step we take, always hand in hand with the children.
We chose the children as guides, for only they know where to find the words that name things.
Only children have the key and the keyword to open this large chest that is the Perambular (To roam) exhibition.
Browse through our cultures and discover what we have in common, our differences or what is vaguely similar.
What is our heritage. And our marriage.
Come listen to the many words of the Portuguese language, so rich and mixed, that we dream by night and invent by day.

SESC PINHEIROS
Exhibit about the children’s toys and games from the sertão (hinterland) of Minas Gerais described in the works of Guimarães Rosa.
Curated by Selma Maria, it debuted at Sesc Pinheiros in 2006, toured several cities in the countryside of SP, such as Piracicaba, Ribeirão Preto, and in Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte and Morro da Garça.

Have you ever thought about the names we invent for everything in the world?
From mixing everyday words and objects emerges 20 animal sculptures, visual puns that are true bricolages created by the artist and writer Selma Maria.
An illogical zoo-logical called Poetic Animals. This was the artist’s way of playing with the Portuguese language and the things she finds around the world.
